Selfish Sunday First Impressions of New Beauty Products

Selfish Sunday First Impressions of New Beauty Products

Hello friends, it's #SelfishSunday! I took a trip to Sephora a few Sundays ago and as a new VIB Rouge member, I decided to checkout some products in the check out line because I'm a fellow frugalista, lol. However, the Sephora collection concealer, Boscia eye masks, and Boscia purifying pore strips are the only products listed below that were not "trial sizes" because they only come in one size. I love shopping here to try out some products I've been curious about without paying full price. It's like my favorite thing to do. In case you were wondering how these products work -- here are my first impressions of each:

Boscia Pore Purifying Black Strips ($28)  Listen, I hate applying foundation over a bumpy nose. I'm realizing I need to make this apart of regimen and do this at least once or twice a week. I feel like I always have blackheads and whiteheads and I'm super self-conscious about them because of my complexion. I have tried the Biore pore strips ($6), and I think they work just as well. However, this contains charcoal powder and claims to detoxify and draw our impurities, the silica controls excess oil, and the witch hazel extract acts as a natural astringent -- making pores less visible and tightens them. I can definitely say it did that. This comes with 12 strips. But hey, the prices are veryyyyyy different, so the choice is yours.

Boscia Sake Brightening Hydrogel Eye Masks ($15) - I knew I would like this because of the word "Hydrogel." I do not normally use eye masks, so I tend to see instant hydration when using them. I didn't notice any brightening, but perhaps I should keep using them a few more times to see if I can tell. For a first impression, Issa yes.

Sephora Collection Bright Future Serum Concealer ($14) - Pretty underrated. I really love the coverage on this bad boy and no creasing. Amazing color selection and about $10-$15 cheaper than your (my) favorite concealer...just sayin'.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara ($12) - Slam dunk because it works just as well as the regular version. I have neither cried with it on nor tried to rub it off with water to test that because 1.) Imma gangsta and 2.) I use makeup wipes/micellar water to remove eye makeup always, lol.

Dr. Brandt 'pores no more' pore refiner primer ($22) - This is kinda magical! Wow, I made sure to observe my pores before and after usage and yepp, pores no more. I applied foundation afterwards with a damp beauty blender and it laiiiidddddd beautifully. It claims to minimize the look of pores, absorb oil, and mattifies shine. Yes, yes, anddddd yes. Probably my new favorite which I'm annoyed about because 0.5 fl. oz was $22, 1.0 oz is $45, and 1.5 oz is $60. This primer kind of reminds me of the Benefit porefessional primer with the tint, feel, and smoothness, but I don't think it made me as matte like this primer did. I have not used the Benefit primer in quite some time though so if you do use both more frequently, you might have a better comparison.

Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray ($12) - I used this to prep the skin and set the skin. Great prep spray. I set an alarm 6 hours after I put on makeup to check if I was still matte and I had a taaadddd bit of oil on my forehead but eh, I didn't mind because my makeup still looked great. A lil' bit of shine is a natural glow lol. Compared to my other favorite prep and setting spray,  Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, you get more product with Boscia. The Boscia spray 1.0 oz is $12 and the 5.9 oz is $38 and the Smashbox spray 1.0 oz is $16 and 3.9 oz is $30. I looooveeee the primer water during the winter when my skin tends to have some dry patches. This Boscia might be my new go-to spray for the spring and summer months when I'm fiveever oily. Long lasting, refreshing, and matte? Mhm.

I hope this first impressions mini review was helpful. Let me know if you've tried any of these and what you thought of them. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and like #Feedherstyle on Facebook!
