End of the Year Beauty Favs feat. @ItsCharissaaa

Hey loves! This post is all about beauty favorites. We’re going to dive into the the year's best beauty products in detail according to Charissa from Charissa, one of my closest friends, is also a beauty junkie. Her page is a combination of classic, glam, and raw reviews lol. Let's get into it!

Part 1- Step by step

Foundation - This year I actually discovered two foundations, that aren't necessarily new to the market, but are new to me. Kat Von D Lock It Foundation is by no means new to the game, but I recently started using it this past summer and it has become one of my favs. Coverage is unbelievable, and it lasts forever. I use the shade Medium 57 Warm, which is getting a bit light :( I use a beauty blender with it, as the consistency is a bit on the thicker side. Surprisingly second, Milani Conceal & Perfect 2in1 Foundation + Concealer. I say surprisingly because this foundation is a bit slick and typically isn't a foundation an oily girl like myself would be drawn too. However recently, I have been enjoying a healthy & ever so slightly dewy look. I use a matte primer, and make sure to set it incredibly well. Lasts all day and doesn't break up on me. Great coverage and best of all, super affordable.

Concealer - Tarte Shape Tape, hands down. I was super late to the game with this. I started using this back in March and I will not
dare look back. Medium is my perfect undereye shade.

Setting powder - Sacha Buttercup Light. As a Trini native, I'm super proud of this product, lol. I recently moved back to my homeland and it feels good to be able to walk into the actual store and just pick it up. I previously used regular Buttercup, which also worked well...but for the undereyes I wanted something brighter, but not ashy. I put all my cousins on this powder. I'm telling you, it's
perfection. It's a finely milled powder, which makes it smooth and it sort of masks and fills in pores.

Contour - Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick in Mocha is my favorite cream contour. The shade is perfect for my skintone. It looks natural and blends easily, which are two things I usually look
for. I'm not a fan of harsh contours. Rih came through for the island girls, lol.

Bronzing powder - Anastasia Beverly Hills Havana bronzing powder is still my fav. Haven't found a more perfect bronzing shade
for my skintone, so I keep going back to this baby. I will say
however, I discovered Tarte's Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer
in Hotel Heiress in April and it's a nice all over bronzing powder. It can come off slightly oompa loompa-esque, so be sure to use it with a very light hand. Random bonus - it smells incredible!

Highlight - My absolute favorite category! I live for a good highlight and 2017 was anything but short of amazing highlighter releases. Jouer Cosmetics Skinny Dip, a smooth golden powder highlighter, is a great allover highlight, i.e. top of the cheekbones, inner corner, nose and clavicles. I remember ordering that during my birthday brunch, lol. Dose of Colors DesixKaty Mìrame, a lighter rose gold highlighter is blinding on the
tops of cheekbones.

Eyeshadow palette(s) - Let me tell you, Colourpop Cosmetics killed it this year with the eyeshadow palettes! My all time favorite this year has been P.S. I Love You. Twelve warm toned shades for $16.00. Mattes blend amazingly, shimmer shades are super pigmented and it's just an all around well executed palette. There is some fallout, but honestly speaking, what palette these days doesn't have any fallout? I recently picked up Kathleen Lights collab with them, Dream St. and it also it didn't disappoint. I'd strongly suggest giving their shadows a try. If you're hesitant, pick up a single shadow or two and you be the judge.

Eyeliner - I'm not huge on eyeliner but I was gifted a Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer and I do think it's nice for tighlining. Inglot Gel Liner in 77 however, will forever be the blackest and smoothest eyeliner on the market. The hype is absolutely real.

Lashes - I'm so basic, I only picked up one pair of newly released lashes in 2017. Nicole Guerrireo's collab with Eylure in Casually Glamorous is probably my most worn lash, after Ardell's Demi Wispy's, of course.

Brows - In 2017 I started using Colourpop's Brow Promade/Gel. I wouldn't say it's my favorite but it's nice to use when I don't have my ABH pomade on hand.

Part 3- Going Out

Girl's Night Out - I love a warm, matte brown smokey eye. It's so satisfying, lol. I usually use shadows from the Urban Decay Heat Palette. For lips, I'd usually wear a bold, dark lip.

Date Night - I won't say I have a specific look. I usually do whatever makes me feel confident and pretty. 90% of the time though, you can find me with a shimmery lid color paired with a sienna toned transition and cranberry crease. For lips, I tend to wear a pinky nude matte lip, and a gloss on top.

Brunch/Day Party - I used to love wearing cool toned shadows to brunch, i.e. a lot of cool tones mauves paired with a matte bold or nude lip.

Part 2 Randomness

Do you bake your face? - I do not. I personally don't like how dry the undereyes can look after baking., I lightly set and that works perfectly for me.

What’s your go to nail color for the winter? - Burgundy all the way. I sneek in a nude every couple of weeks, too.

Do you do holiday themed makeup looks (NYE, Christmas, Halloween)? "I really don't. I have realized that I really like simple glam. I'm not a huge fan of glitter so nothing is ever too over the top when it comes to my eyes. The most I may do is probably try to color coordinate with a holiday but I never go all the way out my way to draw a Christmas Tree on my lids. I don't have time or skills for that. If you do though, by all means..."

What was the best product release of 2017?

Fenty Gloss Bomb. My love for gloss was reignited when I first bought Kylie Cosmetics Koko K Gloss (don't you dare judge me, the shade is bomb), but Fenty Glow has taken the cake and upstaged and outperformed it in every possible way.

Who has the best lipgloss on the market?

Undoubtedly Fenty Gloss Bomb - THE ABSOLUTE BEST GLOSS! You can trust me. Seriously, I don't stan for Rih but wowowowow, this is the greatest, lol. I got mine in October and hello, it's already gone. It's soooo good.

Creamy or matte lipstick finish?- Matte, always. Who got time to reapply? (Unless its Fenty's Gloss Bomb...I got a lil time for that.)

Favorite foundation finish in the winter and favorite for the summer?

For winter I used to use a tad of Estee Lauder's Double Wear in Cashew, mixed with Cover FX's Natural Finish Foundation in G40. The cover Fx foundation is very dewy and Double Wear is matte AF. The find the combo creates a lovely, flawless finish on the skin in the cooler months.
In the summertime, if I'm not wearing a full face of Double Wear, I'm usually using Tarte Shape Tape in Tan to spot conceal here and there.

How did you do your makeup in high school?

Ummm, I barely wore makeup throughout high school. I started experimenting the beginning of senior year and I usually wore mascara and lipgloss/lip balm.

How was your skin care regimen changed since moving to 🇹🇹?

My skincare has become incredibly simple. If it's one thing about this island, it agrees with my skin. To fully remove my makeup, I have been loving MAC Cleansing Oil. I use Cetaphil Face Wash, Neutrogena Toner & Murad Day Cream and switch to a Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion for night. For breakouts, I use The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil. For an all over mask, I use the Indian Aztec Clay. I substitute products in and out all the time, but recently this line up has been working really well for me.

Thank you so much Charissa for telling us about your absolute favs from 2017!
