Halloween is over and I finally can listen to Christmas music without shame. I saw a hashtag on twitter called #30daysofThanks and I thought it was awesome because we don't always sit back and reflect on all the things we are thankful for. This is a thank you to all of you that read this blog and support me with everything I do. I am truly grateful. It's not easy being a grad student, working a 9-5(6), and blogging, but it's so worth it. So far after 6 months of blogging, my proudest moments are definitely pictured below.
This is moi at the Plitz Marketing fashion show during #NYFW . I was contacted to cover the event and basically showcase the fashion show on my social media platforms. It was so much fun and the designs were gorgeous! This was a first for me and I'm hoping it wont be the last. Maybe one day I'll be covering the shows in Paris. #goals
Here is Baeona and I at The Cut's career panel. I was greeted at the door by Shiona Turini, contributing editor, and Stella Bugbee, editorial director, of this intimate panel held in Manhattan. We learned about their trials, triumphs, and how they became so successful. Did you know Shiona also graduated from the illustrious, Hampton University? Well you should 'cause the standard of excellence..duh! She is excellent. She was the stylist for Beyonce's Formation video and Solange's“Don’t Touch My Hair” and “Cranes” videos from her new album, “A Seat at the Table." I was geeked when I met her AND she put me on her snapchat? C'mon man lol. Too lit.
Baby's first feature *in my Elaine Welteroth voice* Pictured above is a random pic I snapped on my iPhone and posted on my Instagram. I was at the 'Essence Street Style Block Party' near the food truck area and literally said "Oh, cool background, lemme take this pic real quick" and Essence staff thought it was pretty cool too. When I was asked to submit it to be featured in Essence November issue, I was so hype. Like wow, what are the odds? I gotta be honest, I didn't think it was real until I walked into Barnes & Noble and started flipping pages in the magazine like a mad woman to see if it was legit- and t'was. I gotta frame this cause my thumb and fries are famous, haha. :)
None of this would have happened without God and the loving support from my friends and family. I really believe that when the praises go up, the blessings come down. Stay true to who you are. Tell God what you want and seek him in all that you do and watch what happens.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Selah. (Pause and think on that)
