Fenty Beauty Review

Everyone's favorite fashion icon has made her way into the beauty world and everyone is still SHOOK! Fenty Beauty was only announced back in August and we really didn’t know what we were in for.

With this launch, Fenty Beauty released:`

  • Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (40 shades)

  • Match Stix Matte Skinsticks (20 shades)

  • Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks (10 shades)

  • Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters (8, but 4 come in duo palettes)

  • Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

  • Precision Makeup Sponge 100

  • Full-Bodied Foundation Brush 110

  • Cheek-Hugging Highlight Brush 120

  • Portable Touchup Brush 130

  • Portable Highlighter Brush 140

  • Portable Contour & Concealer Brush 150

  • Invisimatte Translucent Blotting Powder

  • Invisimatte Blotting Paper

I picked up the foundation, one matte skinstick, one killawatt highlighter, and the lip gloss.

Soooooo, let's get into it!

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation: I really love this foundation. For a product to be so full coverage and lightweight, it’s truly something special. I actually did not expect anything super heavy since Rihanna’s makeup is usually light, fresh, and flawless. It was correctly named because I really feel like I'm wearing a Snapchat filter, lol. This is very different for me because I’m more of an Estee Lauder Double Wear, Lancome Teint Idole kinda girl, whereas those who prefer NARS All Day WeightLess and NARS Sheer Glow are already used to this type of wear. It’s buildable, medium-full coverage, skin like. I honestly believe that my skin clearing up has a lot to do with why I love how natural it looks on me.

Match Stix Matte Skinstick: This shade (Bamboo) I used as a concealer. Out of the products I've purchased, this one was the most disappointing. I think it’s formulated in a way I am not used to for under eye concealer. It kind of tugs on my skin and that's a very delicate and sensitive area, so I try to avoid harshness there. I've also noticed that because it's dry and not very blendable even with a damp sponge. I have a feeling that a darker shade as a contour would work much better for because my cheeks are not sensitive to tugging. My personal preference is something more creamy and hydrating for the under eye area. Just because it did not work for me, does not mean it won't work for you. (If this product worked for you, let me know give me details on your application please lol)

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter: This is just ...a dream come true. Extremely yellow gold sparkling highlighters are not usually my go-to, but the first time I saw it was on Rihanna at the Fenty Beauty premiere in New York, it looked amazing. It’s not a typical day to day highlight because of how intense it is, but you’ll feel like a billionaire with it on. These Killawatt freestyle highlighters are multi-purposeful too. I’ve seen them used as highlighters for the cheeks, nose, and collarbone and as eyeshadows. If using a skin highlight, remember a little goes a long way. This is not the product to be heavy-handed with; stay low and build lol. It's much easier to add on until you get the look you want rather than starting off with too much product then having to start over.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer: I’ve been into lip glosses for about a year now and this was a product I had to have. First of all, it smells like candy. I looovveeee when beauty products smell edible! This gloss is great on its own and as a topper (especially on top of metallic lippies). It even gives the lips a slight plump!

Overall, I’m super proud of her and this over the top release. The packaging is gorgeous and you can really tell this wasn't quick and careless release. It shows that she's worked very hard on the quality and technical aspect of each product. (The skinstick tubes are magnetic, how cool?!) Forty inclusive shades with different undertones are not that common in Sephora, so this is huge! I’m very pleased and excited for other permanent products that she’ll launch in the future. I also plan on purchasing some shimmer skinsticks to add to my little stash in the very near future.

I hope this mini review was helpful. Let me know if you've tried any of the products from this launch and what you thought about them.  Connect with me on Instagram and like #Feedherstyle on Facebook!
