Welcome to #SelfishSunday! This is where I will feature all things related to self care including skin care, hair care, nail care, health, and devotionals with features sprinkled in between. We need to be a little selfish sometimes, right? We're kicking off this segment with Korean skin care blogger @BlackGirlGoneKBeauty and I asked her a few questions because well, I saw the buzz of Korean skin care, but wanted to know what the hype was about. Welp, I got my answer and after you read this, you'll be ready spend your coins and start incorporating these brands in your daily regimen.
Ready? Here we go!
Q: Name, where you’re from, skin type?
A: Hi my name is Courtney and I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. My skin type is combination/acne prone. It's oily during the warm months and dry during the winter.
Q: How long have you been blogging/tweeting/Instagrammin' using the BlackGirlGoneKBeauty handle?
A: I have been using blackgirlgonekbeauty since November 2016.
Q: What made you decide to start this beauty/skin care journey?
A: Because I was tired of my skin. I tried plenty of products and nothing was really working. Suffering from acne and blackheads with excessive hyperigmentation. I just wanted better skin.
Q: How did you get into Korean beauty?
A: I got into Korean beauty because of a few ladies on my twitter were discussing their favorite products and they invited me to a Facebook group called Geom girls.
Q: Do you have a favorite K beauty brand?
A: Skinfood is probably my favorite. They have something for everyone.
Q: Where can we purchase these products? Are they available in stores we’re familiar with like Sephora or Ulta?
A: You can purchase K beauty at Ulta, Target, and Sephora. However, I am an online shopper mostly. I buy off Amazon and eBay, and Testerkorea.
Q: If you’ve had a long day at work, what sheet mask are you grabbing?
A: I am grabbing the Mediheal Revital Essential Mask. It's BOMB.
Q: Name your top 5 K beauty products.
A: Nooni snowflake whipping cleanser, Elizavecca milky piggy carbonated bubble clay mask, Cosrx BhA liquid toner, son and park beauty water, and Skinfood royal honey essential queen cream
Q: Any skincare advice for the readers?
A: You must MUST use SPF or all your skincare routines are a complete waste of your time.
Q: If you only can use ONE skin care product forever, which one would you choose?
A: I would choose SPF. It's that important to me.
Thank you Courtney for sharing with us your new found love. It was extremely helpful! Stay connected with her and be on the lookout for the launch of her new website!
